QUESTION:

Area of Concern: Reading Comprehension
Submitted by: Parent
Grade Level: High School
Competency: Below Level

My son is a 9th grader who has always made A's and B's. We transfered him to a private college prep school and have found his vocabulary, reading and written language skills are way below grade level (5th grade). How do we get started to bring him to grade level and beyond?

ANSWER:

Thanks for your inquiry. We've helped many students improve their reading comprehension. Our most popular program for this purpose is Developing Critical Thinking Skills for Effective Reading. The program helps students improve their reading comprehension and develops their ability to make inferences. It is designed for students who read at 5th through 8th grade levels.

Once he has completed Developing Critical Thinking Skills he can move on to Developing Critical Thinking Skills for Upper Grades. It is for students reading at 8th through 11th grade levels.
