New York, NY -- Merit Software introduces Vocabulary Stretch. Vocabulary Stretch is a self-paced improvement program that helps students develop their vocabulary skills, recognize words in different contexts, and understand where many English words come from.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Students may work on specific concepts, or learn in a mixed practice format in which they will receive help and contextual feedback.

Key features of the program include pre-tests, practice sessions, post-tests, and frequent places where students may print-out work. In addition, the software seamlessly integrates into Merit's management utility that automatically tracks multiple students results and creates reports that help teachers monitor user progress.

Vocabulary Stretch is designed for students whose reading scores place them at a U.S. grade level of 4.0 to 10.0. Reward sounds and graphics do not contain juvenile animation. Older students in ESL and TOEFL classes, adult literacy and GED prep programs, or college prep courses frequently use the software.

System requirements for the software are a computer running Windows 9x/Me/NT/2000/XP with at least 8 MB of RAM, 40 MB of hard disk space and a minimum screen resolution of 800 by 600 pixels. A sound card is also required.

Vocabulary Stretch is available in two sets, based on level of difficulty. A set of the single station version of the software, which includes multiple student tracking, is available for $79. Network, multi-station, and site licenses are also offered.
