Reaching every child is not possible with a one-size-fits-all model of curricula and instruction. We need to personalize instruction, support teachers with the tools they need, give them the skills to succeed in mixed ability classrooms, and the confidence that this can be done.
Teachers will learn how to use Merit Software to determine important differences in students' points of entry. In addition, you will learn implications for working with students, both online and offline, and for creating fair and appropriate assessments.
The course is lead by an instructor who moderates a bulletin-board style online discussion. Each course lasts twelve to fourteen weeks, depending on which section you are enrolled in. Participants have flexibility but are expected to participate in the online discussions, oversee their students use of Merit as a supplement to their in-class instruction, and write a paper summarizing their observations.
Continuing education units (CEUs) are available for this course from the Marshall University Graduate College.
Using Merit Software with your students is required for this course. If you have not purchased the softwrae, contact us for pricing and purchasing information.
