Sharpens students' ability to understand and interpret career related materials.

Sharpens the ability of career-oriented students to understand, interpret, and analyze written materials on a variety of employment-related topics.

Students work in a format that includes multiple-choice reading comprehension questions, finding the context clue to an answer, and writing their own sentences for each text. Context clues and help words are provided throughout.

Scores are kept in a record management system that allows teachers to view and print records.

The questions, answers and explanations of the programs can be spoken aloud by using the Merit Text Talker.

Designed for students in grades 8 through 11 (ages 13 and up), the software can also be used by English language learners and adult students.

Each set contains 36 passages and 360 questions.
Contextual help and feedback engage students of all ages.
Students choose from a menu of reward animations and sounds.
All student work is stored in the Teacher Program Manager.
Content can be spoken aloud by using the Merit Text Talker.

Determine the meaning of unfamiliar words by using other words or phrases in the text as clues.
Learn the correct pronunciation of vocabulary words.
Extract salient information from texts.
Use vocabulary and organizational patterns to infer meaning from text.
Demonstrate comprehension of a text by writing sentences using key words.
