If this message occurs when you start a unit of our software,
but before you see a list of classes and student names, then you
have not granted students Write access to the student records
folder.
If this message occurs when you start a unit of our software,
but after you have seen a list of classes and student names, then
you have not granted students Read or Write access to the folders
where the software was installed.
This message may also occur if a client machine does not recognize
the location on the server where the software is installed. The
client and server must connect to the network drive in the same
way. For example, if the software is installed in the folder R:/apps/merit,
the client must also look for R:/apps/merit, not S:/server/merit
or Server/merit. Use the Windows Map Network Drive command
to enable this feature.
This message might also occur when installing newer Merit programs
on a server with older Merit programs on it. We have recently
made many improvements to our software. Some of these advances
have made older student records unusable with our current Teacher
Program Manager.
If you believe this is the source of the problem, remove any
Merit record files (*.MAV) from your system and restart the application.
If you choose to delete the Merit record files, please empty the
recycle bin before re-starting the software.

When students are not granted Read and Write access to the folders
to which the software was installed (including the student records
folder), they will not be able to save their work.
Please make sure that all Merit Software folders and sub-folders
allow students to have Read and Write access.
