Merit Question and Answer
Aspergers Reading Comprehension Help

QUESTION:

Area of Concern: Reading Comprehension

Submitted by: Parent

Grade Level: Special Education

Competency: Below Level

My son has Aspergers but is having difficulties with Reading Comprehension. I am looking for a way to supplement his school work. His teacher isn’t helping. Any suggestions are welcome.

ANSWER:

Merit has helped many Asperger kids improve their comprehension skills.

Our most popular programs for this purpose are Reading Skill Builder and Developing Critical Thinking Skills for Effective Reading.

With both programs students work with exercises to determine main idea, make inferences, and draw conclusions. Context clues help readers when they encounter trouble. Automatic scoring tracks pupil progress.

Reading Skill Builder is for reading levels 3.0 through 8.0. Developing Critical Thinking Skills is for reading levels 5.0 through 8.0.

Good luck!
