Merit Question and Answer
Writing exercises for elementary students

QUESTION:

Area of Concern: Process Writing
Submitted by: Teacher
Grade Level: Elementary School
Competency: At Level
I am new to teaching in an elementary classroom and need input on methods, activities and exercises for teaching writing. Also any ways in which you assess student writing. Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks.

ANSWER:

We've helped many elementary teachers improve their pupils' writing skills.

Our most popular programs for this purpose are Starter Paragraph Punch and Paragraph Punch. The Punch programs guide students, step-by-step, through the writing process -- from pre-writing, writing, organizing, revising, editing to publishing. Pre-set prompts encourage writing that is clear, concise and comprehensible.

Starter Paragraph Punch is for students in grades 3 through 5. Paragraph Punch is for more advanced learners.
