The year is winding down and kids are getting antsy (they are high school ELLs):) I want to try some different writing activities that will motivate them a bit more to write. I have used many interactives on www.readwritethink.org as well as engaging PDF printouts, but I want more.
We've helped make many high school ELLs become excited and succeed with their writing in class.
A good start for your students is Paragraph Punch. Paragraph Punch helps students learn different ways to write an effective paragraph by focusing on reasons, details, sequence, example, and cause and effects. Help prompts guide students step by step through pre-writing, writing, organizing, editing, rewriting, and publishing.
Once they have finished working on this program they may move on to Essay Punch and build on the skills they've acquired. Essay Punch is an interactive writing tutorial that helps students learn to present information in a clear and concise manner. The program guides students step-by-step through the steps of completing an essay.
