Merit Question and Answer
ELA Test Prep

QUESTION:

Area of Concern: Reading Comprehension
Submitted by: Teacher
Grade Level: Elementary School
Competency: At Level
I am new to teaching 5th grade and in a testing year at that. Any suggestions about how to handle test prep for the reading test?

ANSWER:

Merit has a strong track record of helping ELA teachers prepare for standardized tests.

Our best option is Reading Skill Builder. It's a comprehension and assessment program for students reading between a 3rd and 8th grade level.

Reading Skill Builder finds gaps and provides instruction in specific reading skills that are seen on standardized tests. Concepts covered include - vocabulary, sequence, fact-opinion, factual recall, inference, and author's purpose.

The Reading Skill Builder web-page has full-working demos, screen shot tours, and pricing.

Good luck!
