I teach in the Even Start program--a program for teen moms and their babies. These moms have not been successful in the traditional school setting. We are trying to prepare these moms to enter either college or the workforce and become productive citizens. Some may attain the goal of passing the GED, some may not.
Merit Software is frequently asked to assist students and instructors in workforce and alternative education settings.
Although the goal of passing the GED is something that inspires many students, the reality is that oftentimes student skills need to be brought up to speed before preparing for the exam.
Toward that end, it would probably be useful for your students to work with the lessons in the Intermediate Skills Pack. It features lessons that improve a students reading, writing and math skills starting at a 5th grade level.
Once a student has demonstrated readiness, then the lessons in the GED Prep Bundle would be very useful. The lessons in the GED Prep Bundle start at a 8th grade level.
