My son is an 11th grade boy who doesn’t like to read and likes to write even less. How do I motivate him and teach him at the same time?

The best way to motivate children is to present them with interesting, hands-on material that will keep them involved.
Merit Software programs could give you a little help with this.

Through Immediate Feedback, Targeted Instruction and a wide variety of curriculum-based exercises, our programs are sure to motivate students. Our programs will also help build your son’s self-confidence. After using our software he will see his academic strengths and weaknesses in a non-judgmental manner and accept responsibility for the challenge of improving his skills.

I suggest that he starts with Developing Critical Thinking Skills for Effective Reading Set 3 and Essay Punch.

Developing Critical Thinking Skills helps students sharpen their critical thinking skills and develop their ability to make inferences. Essay Punch is an interactive writing tutorial in that helps students learn to present information in a clear and concise manner. The program guides students step-by-step through the steps of completing an essay.
