Merit Question and Answer
Reading Comprehension Software for Autistic Child

QUESTION:

Area of Concern: Reading Comprehension

Submitted by: Parent

Grade Level: Special Education

Competency: Below Level

My student is a very high functioning autistic fourth grader whose greatest difficulty is reading comprehension. I am home schooling and finding it increasingly difficult to meet his reading comprehension needs.

ANSWER:

Merit Software has helped many special needs children with their reading comprehension.

Our most popular programs for this purpose are Reading Skill Builder and Reading Comprehension Booster.

Reading Skill Builder helps students master specific reading skills: vocabulary, sequence, main idea, fact-opinion, factual recall and inference.

Reading Comprehension Booster is more challenging than Reading Skill Builder.   With the program students read a passage and then work with exercises to determine main idea, make inferences and draw conclusions all from the same passage.

Built-in hints and tips support students while they work.  Scores are automatically tracked in an online portfolio.  Each product page has a full-working demo (no-login required) and ordering information.

Best of luck to you and your family.
