Merit Question and Answer
Teaching pre-writing with technology

QUESTION:

Area of Concern: Process Writing

Submitted by: Teacher

Grade Level: ESL Students

Competency: Below Level

Do you have anything that would help me teach pre-writing with technology (i.e. laptop)? I plan to do brainstorming, organizing, etc. with my class.

ANSWER:

We’ve helped many teachers teach pre-writing with their classes.

Our most popular program for this purpose are Starter Paragraph Punch and Paragraph Punch.  The Punch programs are interactive writing tutorials in which students learn to present information in a clear and concise manner.

The programs guide students step-by-step through the process of completing a written work. Steps to complete work include brainstorming, organizing, editing and proofreading.  Student work is stored at various stages of development in an online portfolio accessible to students and teachers.
