What are the differences between the units of Reading Shape Up?

I have the Reading Shape Up Home version. Can you please tell me the differences between Units 1, 2 and 3 of set 1? Are they just the same, but with different questions, is there a step up to challenge the child more, or do I need to consider the next program?

Also….Overall, in the Unit 1 testing, the Main Idea, Sequence, Inferences, she scored 100%, while the remaining she scored a 75% in Unit 1 finals. When she did the try out in Unit 2, the vocabulary and sequence, she scored a 100%, but in the other 3 areas below a 66%. I’m not quite sure what to make of this. Is each Unit test harder than the previous? I’m wanting to confirm if she is doing this based on memory (as maybe the questions are the same) or if her vocabulary is building. Can you please help me put this in perspective?

 

ANSWER:

Reading Shape Up gets progressively harder and the content changes as students progress from one unit to the next. When your daughter finishes all the units in Set 1 with a score of 75% or greater she will be ready to move to Set 2. You should probably have her redo the sections where she scored below 66% overall. If she scored below 66% in a particular skill area, but did well on the lesson overall, then I would simply talk with her about that particular skill, and review this skill in the Tutor Menu at the beginning of the lesson.

Reading Shape Up focuses on developing student’s reading skills and vocabulary is a key part of this. However, if you want to focus specifically on developing your daughter’s vocabulary, then I would suggest Vocabulary Stretch. Please let us know if you have further questions.
