Currently there is a big gap between TABE materials and the GED test. The GED test requires students write essays, but the TABE materials do not offer any guidance for instructors to teach writing. Teachers are left on their own to figure out how to help students. This has led to a lack of GED success. Both students and teachers in our program are discouraged and searching for answers. Could your writing software help us teach writing to GED students? Have other GED programs used it? What Merit program could prepare my TABE students for GED writing?
Merit Software often helps TABE students prepare for writing on the GED exam. In particular, Paragraph Punch and Essay Punch have proven extremely useful
Paragraph Punch and Essay Punch teach students the writing process. Students are led, step-by-step, through the process of writing clear, concise paragraphs and essays. Built-in hints and tips support students while they work. All the while, student writing is saved in a back-end management system. The Punch writing programs systematize teaching the writing process. Both teachers and students like using the programs.
