Helps beginning readers develop life-long reading skills. Interactive exercises teach key reading concepts through illustrated stories. Concepts include vocabulary-in-context, main idea, detail, sequence and inference.

Pre-tests place students in appropriate areas of instruction. Lessons are self-paced and self-advancing. Pupils receive context-sensitive help throughout.

Student progress data is stored in a record management system that allows teachers to view and print detailed reports.

The questions, answers and explanations of the programs can be spoken aloud by using the Merit Text Talker.

Designed for students in grades 2 through 3 (ages 7 and up), the software can also be used by English language learners and older students.
